I am originally from Rochester, Illinois and now a resident of Decatur, Georgia. My children, Darren and Heidi, both made me a proud, happy grandmother this year! They both had sons, Sean and Dylan.
My family is from downstate Illinois in the heart of the farmland. I grew up on a small family farm where life was simple but hard at the same time. We raised almost all our own food and only went to town when it was necessary. I could ride horses since I could sit up on my own and that was usually how we got around to go play with the neighbor kids. It was in this expansive, beautiful environment that inspired and nurtured my creative qualities.
After graduating high school in 1984 I began attending Lincoln Land Community College (LLCC). It has been one of the best educational experiences of my life. I recommend LLCC to anyone. I took a long road to graduation as I did not attend consecutively but rather attended sporadically over a number of years. In 2005 I moved to Georgia and began working full-time with Georgia Perimeter College. It was here that I was encouraged to go back to school and work toward my Bachelor’s degree. I began my undergrad studies in communications at Clayton State University and transferred to Southern Polytechnic State University for the fall semester of 2009. I am enrolled in the Bachelor of Science in Technical Communications program and expect to complete my studies at the end of 2012.
